Here’s another excellent customized Sevylor Fish Hunter. It’s another 360 and I like it’s simplicity and use of space.
You can really see how ‘infamoushatch’ uses the space to his best advantage. He’s got simple solutions for securing things like seats and tips for going out on salt water. He has answered a lot of questions in the comment thread so this is really worth reading through. For example he writes:
Just got back from taking the Fish Hunter into saltwater. It was the ultimate test before taking it to the canal for dungeness crabbing. Surprisingly it did very well with the 55lb thrust. I was a lil skeptical at first, it was windy and had waves from other boats. I was out in the water for about 2 1/2 hrs trolling at 55lbs and still had 67% battery life. Not bad, probably traveling between 3-5 mph. Tomorrow i will drop off crab pots.
Good specific information here for anyone with a Sevylor Fish Hunter.

I really love to see how people get creative and customize their Sevylor Fish Hunters, so I’m posting pictures and videos of great customizations.
Here’s one from an enthusiast in Arizona, CNPIKE. It is awesome! Really simple and practical and verywell executed.
Here’s what CNPIKE has to say: “This is my 1st trip out on the new Sevylor Fish Hunter 360. I made wood bench seats & painted on the registration numbers. It is rated for 6 people, but with gear, etc, it will realistically hold maybe 3. I have a Minn Kota Endura 30 with an EverStart Marine deep cycle battery with 720 cranking amps. I intend to do a few more things to this boat (more rod holders, cup holders, wood floor, etc)”
The video is from August 2010. I’m hoping for an update because I would really like to see how this work has held up and what else he has added. Every customization is a work in progress and this one is off to a fantastic start. These are pretty basic customizations that I think most of us could do (maybe not as nicely, though).
The seats are excellent, and you can really see just how much room there is in the 360: 2 to 3 people max!

If you have customized your fish hunter leave a comment and tell others what you did. What were the pitfalls? What should we watch out for? What is easy to do, and what is hard? Do you have measurements to share? What are the best materials to use. What did it cost?
Or send me a picture or link to your video and your story and I’ll post it! Do you know of a link to a great customization? Post it in a comment for your fellow enthusiasts.
Happy boating!
The hurricane that swept through the south eastern seaboard in the summer of 2011 did some heavy damage to a lot of people’s property. We got out to our summer cabin on the Friday after the storm to find it got hit pretty bad. Broken windows, part of the roof missing, no more steps to the porch, the shed flattened, trees down, but fortunately none fell directly on the cabin. It was all hands on deck for the clean-up. Thanks to friends and family helping out, we got it done fast enough to get some time to fish before we all had to get back to jobs on Monday. The flattened shed would just have to wait for the next trip.
Fortunately, we are all big fans of inflatable boats and we store our 3 Fish Hunters in a corner of the cabin so all we had to do was inflate them, grab our gear and go. There was room for everyone - seven adults and two twelve year olds! I remember when I was twelve, my dad had to repair our boats that had been damaged by storms. We couldn’t fish until he had fixed them and that could take weeks. We were real glad when after two days of repairing our cabin, we could take an afternoon and relax on the water and fry up some fish for supper in the evening.
Another advantage to an inflatable after a storm is they are easy to navigate around fallen trees and light enough to lift over when you can’t get around them. Ours are surprisingly robust and even though we constantly go over and into branches and other objects that you would think might tear a boat that is essentially made of cloth, we have never had a puncture. That’s some strong cloth!

There are some really great advantages to using an inflatable fishing boat. They are light weight and compact so you can store them in a small space like a closet and you don’t need a trailer or even a car rack to get them to the water. They fit right inside your car.
If you fish on lakes, ponds, creeks and streams this inflatable is perfect for you. It goes places non-inflatables just won’t go, such as areas with partially submerged bushes/trees. You never need to turn back when you reach an obstacle like a fallen tree. It’s easy to just lift the boat over.
They are remarkably stable on the water and nearly impossible to capsize. They are also very easy to maneuver.
This inflatable is extremely robust. Are you concerned about jabbing or snagging an inflatable with a fishhook? Don’t be. It is made of heavy-duty 32-gauge PVC so even the most careless of fishermen and women can fish in this inflatable boat with no worries of punctures. And you can even bring your dogs on board – yes even the big ones and the ones with long nails! These fishing boats really do hold up!
The Sevylor Fish Hunter 360 is 12′ long and is sold as a 6-person boat. The 360 bears up to 1,200 pounds and is definitely the preferred model for fishing because it is the roomiest model. Although Sevylor claims it is for 6 people, it really only holds 2 to 3 adults with fishing gear comfortably. But how many people do you really need in a fishing boat with you? 2 to 3 people sounds perfect!
The Sevylor Fish Hunter 280 is 9’2″ long and holds 2 people. It might be a tight squeeze with gear so most people go for the 360. It is a fantastic first boat for a kid and makes a wonderful Christmas or birthday present! Kids have a blast in inflatable boats and you can rest easy because they are so hard to capsize and it’s inflated so the sides are soft!
The Sevylor Fish Hunter 250 is 8′ long. It’s not big, but good enough if you like to go out alone.
This inflatable boat features 4 swivel oarlocks, 2 fishing-rod holders, 2 inflatable seats, and chafing pads. The drain plugs enable you to empty water out of the boat easily. The grabline around the whole boat and built-in handles enable easy carrying. It is supplied with a useful gear bag and a battery pouch.
It comes with bow and stern fitting for an electric motor (motor is not included) or you can buy the optional Sevylor motor mount for a 2.5 HP motor.
Sevylor is a leading brand for inflatables and they used their exclusive patented Airtight System which you can only get with a Sevylor. Their Double-Lock Stop Valves to stop any accidental air loss when inflating and Sevylor inflatable boats are NMMA certified.
Here are a few optional items that people like to buy
